Teledentistry Remains a Permanent Benefit

Teledentistry remains an option for dentists to provide emergency services to our members. Real-time teledentistry encounters through phone or video chat are covered for your patients of record on all our commercial dental plans. When billing for telephonic real-time emergency services, you’ll need to submit two CDT codes:

D0140: Limited oral evaluation-problem-focused

D9995: Synchronous teledentistry

There’s little or no cost to members for this service when they visit a participating provider.

You’ll be reimbursed at the D0140 allowance. You can verify benefits and eligibility at the My Patients’ Benefits website or by calling Customer Service at 866-445-5148.
