Oral Health for Overall Health Adds Conditions and Updates Covered Services
Effective January 1, 2023, we’re adding three more conditions to our Oral Health for Overall HealthSM program so that more of your patients can take advantage of this unique program. The new conditions are end-stage renal disease (ESRD), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and metabolic syndrome (MetS).
Members enrolled in the program who’ve been diagnosed with one or more of these conditions will receive two additional cleanings or periodontal maintenance visits per year and periodontal scaling covered at 100% with no out-of-pocket expense.
Also, effective January 1, 2023, periodontal root scaling and planing will be covered 100%, regardless of standard coverage, for enrolled members with diabetes, coronary artery disease, stroke, ESRD, COPD, MetS, or who are pregnant.
The program now also covers the removal of plaque and tartar that interfere with the ability to perform a dental exam at 100% once every 36 months (dental procedure code D4355).
Oral Health for Overall Health is included in all fully insured BlueDental PPO plans and all Florida Blue Medicare Advantage plans (except for Florida Health Care Plans).
