Oral Health for Overall Health
Florida Blue is committed to our community and the health of its members. That’s why we support a multifaceted approach to optimum oral care called Oral Health for Overall Health.
Why Oral Health for Overall Health?
Dental Health can influence conditions such as diabetes, oral cancer, coronary artery disease (CAD) and low birth weight and premature babies. A relationship exists between healthy mouth and overall good health. That means it's important to get regular preventive dental care to help maintain your good oral health and overall health.
Benefits of Oral Health for Overall Health program include:
- Delivering an oral health education campaign to members, providers and employers.
- Working with members who are not actively maintaining their oral health, through focused communication that encourages members to see their dentist.
- Removing financial barriers through Enhanced Dental Benefits, a program that provides at-risk members with condition-specific benefits beyond their dental benefits.
- No copayment
- No deductible
- Covered outside the annual maximum
Enjoy The Oral Health for Overall Health Difference.
The mouth is the doorway to your entire body, and conditions such as inflamed gums, infected gums and tooth decay can lead to dramatic health problems. Research clearly shows that problems in your mouth can affect the rest of your body.
We design enhanced and personalized oral care to qualifying members to improve overall health. This can include specialized care programs, additional cleanings, and periodontal scaling offered as part of the dental insurance plan at no additional cost.
With permission, we can conduct informative outreach to identified members to help them with disease management. Outreach can take many forms such as by mail, phone or whichever method of communication makes the most sense.
MEMBER EDUCATION & ACTION
In a variety of communications, we help to convey the often unknown correlation between oral health and one’s overall health. We help build awareness for the benefits to overall health resulting from improved dental care.
